What Are You Looking for in a Relationship: How To Answer This Question?

How to react to the question “what are you looking for in a relationship?” is a highly dreaded idea for many people while looking for a partner.

Dating is challenging enough without having to come up with what may appear to be predetermined responses.

After all, relationships are all about being yourself and finding someone who appreciates, respects, and loves you.

To put it bluntly, yeah!

It is the whole point of dating. Meeting someone who genuinely cares for you and returning those sentiments. Relationships ultimately involve mutual support,  growth, love, respect, and love.

So why should it seem like an interrogation at first? It shouldn’t. You can keep it simple!

Do not overthink. It makes sense to know if the person is worth your time or not. Let’s have a look at some of the answers!

1. A Connection With Humour Throughout The Relationship

Let’s face it, life is difficult. The negativity of life must thus be avoided at all costs. Choose someone with a good sense of humor if you’re in a relationship. Choose a companion with whom you can laugh despite the difficulties of life.

After a rough day at the office, find someone who can make you giggle. Find someone who enjoys your humor. In short, pick a partner who makes you laugh, even when things are difficult.

Yet, this does not imply that you should choose a companion who is not serious about life. A person with a good sense of humor and someone who doesn’t take life seriously are very different from one another.

Have you ever observed that people with a sense of humor tend to be smarter people? They have street smarts and know how to escape a trying circumstances.

Do not forget that being in a relationship should make your life easy and happier, not worse. So, look for someone with a sense of humor.

2. Being With Someone Who Listens Well

Choose a person who will listen to you and value your opinions. It is a sign of a man’s ability to listen when he offers appropriate advice to a lady who is having difficulty. It’s not only his ear that he uses to hear her.

He makes sure he understands her by also engaging his emotions.

Men who are looking for their life companions should do the same. A lady will react to anything you say in a certain way.

Perhaps she isn’t the one for you if her replies don’t seem to apply to you. A lady who pays close attention to a man’s needs will respond appropriately.

By doing so, she ensures that her advice is practical and attainable for the person she is speaking to by taking into account his traits.

We are all aware that life isn’t always a bed of roses. You may occasionally feel as though things are not working out the way you had hoped. We all need someone we can vent to when things are difficult.

Sometimes, we don’t even require an immediate fix for our issue. We simply need someone to listen to us without passing judgment.

Saying “being with a good listener” in answer to a guy or girl asking what you’re looking for is a nice response.

3. An Understanding That Maintaining Good Health Extends Beyond Physical Health

Not everyone is privileged enough to marry someone who is extremely health concerned. I’m referring to a person who can motivate you to exercise daily and consume a nutritious diet.

Let’s face it, not everyone takes working out at the gym seriously. Not to add how difficult it is to pass up a meal of a 1,000-calorie burger!

But in all seriousness, wouldn’t it be fantastic to be around someone that motivates you to lead a healthy lifestyle?

Healthy doesn’t just refer to bodily well-being. There’s also this thing called emotional wellness, in case you forgot. There is moreover this concept of mental health.

Choose a spouse that doesn’t physically mistreat or harm you while we talk about physical health. Similarly to this, having a spouse who doesn’t lash out verbally when you argue is a sign of emotional wellness.

Both emotional and physical abuse include your spouse demeaning you and treating you like the most pointless being on Earth. Making you feel this way will only have a bad impact on your mental well-being.

If you’re in a relationship of this nature right now, end it as soon as you can. You won’t get anything from it. Locate a person who values and respects you.

4. Respecting Each Other’s Solitude

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have your significant other at your side constantly? We all wish that were true, don’t we?

But it’s not. There is a saying that states couples must grow independently before they can grow together. Simply said, spending all of your time together is not healthy.

Even if you’re already in a committed relationship, keep in mind your surrounding community. Spend time with your coworkers directly after work occasionally. Make time to have coffee with your buddies. Spend some time alone if your schedule allows.

You may read a book by the water, go to a yoga class once a week, or attend conferences and workshops. Or perhaps engage in pretty much anything that will enhance your development.

Give your partner permission to do the same. You’ll be astounded by how much knowledge you can exchange with one another. Spending time apart refuels your spirit, enabling you to contribute more to your relationship.

5. A Life Free From Pretension

It’s a well-known fact that a man must present himself in the best possible light if he wants to attract a woman. Does the fact that this rule is well-known imply that it is also a good one?

Not in my opinion. You don’t always put your best foot forward. Instead, exhibit natural behavior. Being a decent person isn’t that complicated.

Simply treat your lover well! You will nonetheless encounter circumstances when you become irritated or experience bad emotions because you are only human.

Everyone goes through this, and it’s good for your partner to observe how you’re feeling when things aren’t going well.

Wrapping Up!

Always keep in mind that answering a question from the heart will make it simpler for you. It is more beneficial to be honest with oneself than it is with other people.

If you’re thinking about being in a relationship, your main focus should be mental health. You need to be with someone who understands you better and takes care of your mental health.
